Akshay Mitra Foundation is a pan-India socio-cultural and humanitarian organization working towards national integration, cultural preservation, and service to humanity. Headquartered in New Delhi, the Foundation actively connects people, communities, and cultures across India and abroad.
The Foundation draws its strength from India’s rich cultural heritage, patriotic spirit, and the belief that social service is the highest form of nation service. Through large-scale cultural programs, humanitarian initiatives, employment support, and crisis response, the Foundation has touched thousands of lives across states.

He consistently demonstrated academic excellence and leadership from an early age, serving as class monitor up to Class 10, securing first position throughout, and receiving Merit Scholarships from the State Education Department in Classes 5 and 7.
From the age of 12, he actively organized annual three-day cultural programs in his native village, including Ganakabi Baistamb Pani Jayanti, staging renowned Odia Natak and Gitinatya such as Amar Bilash, Abhimanyu Badha, Napahu Rati Namaru Pati, Jaraja Santana, Kala Pahad, and Rikshawala, often performing in lead roles himself.
He received the Best Child Singer Award at Sea Beach, Puri, presented by Late Shri Sekh Matlub Ali, former Education Minister of Odisha, and Smt. Belarani Dutta, Chairperson, Social Welfare Department.
He established KMC Management & Career Destination Placement Consultancy, providing free employment services and facilitating jobs for over 1,000 underprivileged individuals across Delhi-NCR and other states—without charging any candidate.
He fought a prolonged legal battle of eight years as a prime witness to secure justice for a poor widow in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, whose husband died in a road accident on NH-8. All legal and associated expenses were borne personally by him, resulting in a successful judgment and rightful compensation for the widow.
At the age of 13, he successfully organized a week-long Gana Kabi Baistamb Pani Jayanti in village Umar. His efforts led to the upgradation of the village school to include Classes 6 and 7, following participation of eminent dignitaries and academicians invited under his leadership of the Swadhin Club.
During his Class 10 school annual function, he portrayed the role of the Prime Minister in a Mock Parliament and received the First Prize, presented by Late Shri Sarat Kumar Kar, former Minister of Odisha.
He was adjudged Best Singer and secured First Position in the 100-meter race during the District-level Junior Red Cross Camp, representing Jhadeswarpur High School.
As a science student at Salepur College, he won First Prize in General Knowledge and Third Prize in Fine Arts during the college annual function, maintaining active participation in cultural activities from school through college and continuing the same into later life.
After qualifying through a competitive entrance examination, he pursued engineering at the Government Institute of Engineering, Sonipat (Haryana), where he was elected twice as General Secretary and received the Best Singer Award from the Hon’ble Minister of Haryana for two consecutive years.
During his professional career, he was awarded Second Prize in Singing at the annual function of Rico Auto Industries (Hero Group), Gurugram.
He founded and led multiple social and cultural organizations, many of which continue to actively serve communities in Delhi-NCR and Odisha.
He has been honored with numerous national and social awards, including: Sankalp Se Siddhi Award (Birth Anniversary of Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, New Delhi) Custodian of Humanity Award for COVID-19 service (presented by Shri Ashwini Choubey, former Union Health Minister) COVID Warriors Award from the Vice Chief of the Indian Army (2022) Seva Ratna & Community Service Awards from Rotary Club, Gurugram Best Singer Awards from Government Institute of Engineering, Sonipat And hundreds of recognitions from social, cultural, and national organizations over the years.
An engineer by training and a social worker by choice, Er. Akshay Kumar Samal has consistently blended professional excellence with social commitment. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Production Engineering and Industrial Management from a reputed Government Institute in Sonipat, Haryana, and an MBA in Customer Relationship Management from Manipal University.
With over twenty years of rich industrial experience, he worked in reputed auto industries in India, handling key roles across Business Planning and Development, Supply Chain Management, and Customer Relationship Management, both in India and abroad. During his corporate tenure, he played a pivotal role in providing more than 300 permanent jobs, benefiting primarily needy Odia youths and individuals from other communities.
Despite professional success, his inner calling led him away from corporate life. As he fondly recalls, “I switched over to social work and cultural mission—this is my true passion.”
Animated by a strong national spirit and patriotic fervor, Er. Samal has emerged as a powerful voice for social and cultural awakening across society. His meticulously designed and widely acclaimed program “Shaheedon Ko Salam” has gained national recognition and stolen the limelight at various cultural and patriotic platforms across India.
He has become an indispensable link uniting Odia communities across the nation, especially Odias residing in Delhi-NCR, working tirelessly to revive and promote Odisha’s glorious cultural heritage. To date, he has united over fifty thousand Odia people, including members of the Odishan diaspora living across India and abroad.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, in recognition of his exemplary service, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha appointed him as an Honorary Nodal Officer of Odisha Mo Paribar in Delhi-NCR, where he worked selflessly to support distressed Odias.
He is deeply associated with more than fifty Odia and non-Odia organizations across India and is also connected with over 21 Jagannatha Temple Management Committees nationwide.
Er. Akshay Kumar Samal is the Founder and National President of the Kalinga Bharti Foundation, a Pan-India registered socio-cultural organization headquartered in New Delhi. Under his visionary leadership, the Foundation works across India in the fields of Art & Culture, Community Development, Health & Education, and Environmental Protection.
He is also the Founder and former National President of Rashtriya Prabashi Odia Paribar (Delhi) and Founder & General Secretary of Utkal Jyoti Charitable Organization, Gurugram (Haryana).
Living in Delhi-NCR for over 25 years, he resides with his family. His wife is a dedicated teacher at a reputed English-medium school in Gurugram, Haryana, and actively participates in charitable activities. He hails from a middle-class family in Village Umar, Mahanga, Cuttack District, Odisha, where his brothers serve the nation as a District Collector and a Senior Scientist at NIC, Bhubaneswar.
He consistently motivates people to unite, serve society, support the needy, promote education, health, equality, and collective responsibility for lasting social change.
He always inspires communities to preserve Odia culture, celebrate heritage, strengthen national unity, honor traditions, and pass rich cultural values to future generations.
Above were the last ten years of the Excellence of Kalinga Bharti led by Founder & National President Er. Akshay Kr Samal. During the current Covid pandemic, he has played a vital role with the big support from Odisha -Mo Parivar & and financial support from the relief fund of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha which saved many lives across the country, however, we frequently organize Blood donations camps, free health checkup camps, plantation drive etc, at regular intervals. In recognition of this momentous day in India’s journey Kalinga Bharati Foundation family has decided to organize different activities with the theme “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat”. in a move towards commemorating 75 years of India’s independence. We are going to organize a National Folk Dance Festival in five states with the objective of world peace & and women's empowerment.
Under the leadership of Er. Akshay Kumar Samal, the 100th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Kumar Gandharva, the eminent Hindustani classical singer, was organized at his birthplace Dewas and Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, honoring his timeless contribution to Indian classical music.
In February 2024, a Free Health Check-up Camp was organized at Civil Hospital, Mansa District (near Bathinda), Punjab, supporting 128 TB patients. The initiative received award and recognition from the Head of Civil Surgeon, Mansa Hospital, in association with TSPL Power Plant.
The 6th Prabashi Odia Raja Mahotsav & Odia Food Festival was organized on 15–16 June 2024 at Jewel Garden, Gurugram. The event promoted Odia art, culture, traditional food, and women empowerment through Odia Women Leadership Awards and Talent Search. The Chief Guest was Hon’ble Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh. In previous years, dignitaries like Sh. Baijayanta Panda, Sh. Pratap Chandra Sarangi, and Dr. Lelin Mohanty graced the occasion.
In December 2014, a Mega Charity Cultural Night featuring Abhijit Mazumdar was organized in Gurugram, Haryana, with the objective of providing financial support to Odisha cyclone victims.
The 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was celebrated across five states—West Bengal, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Odisha—from 7 November 2021 to 23 January 2022. Eminent personalities including H.E. Jagdeep Dhankhar (then Governor of West Bengal), Ms. Madhuri Bose (UK), Hon’ble MP Subhash Singh, and Lt. Gen. Chandi Prasad Mohanty participated.
A week-long 1st International Jagannatha Mahotsav was organized in December 2019 at New Delhi. Bharat Ratna Late Shri Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India, was the Chief Guest, and Gajapati Maharaja Shri Divya Singh Dev inaugurated the Mahotsav. Devotees from seven countries participated, with over one lakh visitors, witnessing 24 Besha and 56 Bhoga of Lord Jagannatha. The theme was “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, with participation from spiritual leaders of multiple faiths.
In 2018, a week-long celebration marking the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was held in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, inaugurated by H.E. Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Governor of Odisha. A documentary film “Karyanjali” was launched, 3,000 trees planted, 16 free medical camps organized, along with cultural programs in Odisha and Delhi-NCR.
The 200 Years Bicentenary of the Paika Rebellion against British rule was commemorated in 2017 at Bhubaneswar, inaugurated by H.E. Dr. S. C. Jamir, Governor of Odisha. A cultural dance-drama “Buxi Jagabandhu” was performed at Utkal Mandap.
Odisha’s famous Gana Parba Raja Mahotsav & Odia Food Festival was celebrated in Gurugram in 2017 and 2018, inaugurated by Sh. Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Sh. Baijayanta Panda, and Sh. Sukhbir Kataria, former Minister of Haryana.
The patriotic dance-drama “Shaheedon Ko Salaam” was organized in Gurugram and Bhubaneswar in memory of URI, Pulwama, and Galwan Valley martyrs during 2016, 2017, and 2020. The program was graced by Hon’ble Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Hon’ble Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, with participation from school and college students.
The 1st Prabashi Odia Utsav on Utkal Diwas was organized in 2016 at Om Shanti Retreat Centre, Gurugram. Chief guests included H.E. Dr. S. C. Jamir (Governor of Odisha), Hon’ble CM of Haryana Manohar Lal, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Over 200 Prabashi Odia organizations and 5,000 attendees gathered under one roof for the first time.
An Odissi Cultural Festival was organized in 2015 at Bhiwadi, Alwar (Rajasthan) on the occasion of the Car Festival, in collaboration with Bhiwadi Jagannatha Temple Committee.
